It is therefore advisable to protect the probes and their function effectively. The lambda sensors deliver important parameters from the exhaust system to the engine control unit. The engine control unit in turn controls the amount of fuel injected (mixture composition) and the ignition point, taking into account this and other parameters (such as load status, throttle position, camshaft adjustment). Damage to the lambda sensors or their signal cables can lead to incorrect parameters. Incorrect parameters in turn lead to incorrect motor control signals, which can impair the performance and efficiency or the function of the motor. The ineffective combustion of the fuel can result in a loss of performance, engine malfunctions, higher fuel consumption and increased pollutant emissions due to the non-optimal combustion. Our robust, effective lambda probe protection covers the sensitive lambda probes screwed into the two exhaust manifolds as well as the associated cable and ensures their optimal mechanical protection of both probes. It consists of anodized aluminum with a sheet metal thickness of 1.5 mm. The precise edging, which additionally increases the component stiffness, in conjunction with the multi-point fastening ensures an effective protective effect. The lambda probe protection is provided with openings that prevent heat build-up. Form and function are optimally integrated into the engine layout.
